Visited Assembly line of Automobile factory and Engine plant of SAIC branch of passenger cars manufacturing base
On the morning of April 25th, students of 2011 class majoring in Mechanical and Electronics Engineering, and Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Control, along with Doctor Geke Deetman, Professor Flip Wubben, Lecturer Manuel Gattoir and several assistants visited Assembly line of Automobile factory and Engine plant of SAIC branch of passenger cars manufacturing base located in Lingang District. The total number of this visiting group was 72, and the Chinese assistant served as the guide of this visit.
The commentator working at the Reception center of passenger cars branch of SAIC at first gave a brief account of the history and management structure of the corporation, the layout and function of the manufacturing base located at Lingang District, as well as the major models and products. Then, they were led to visit the assembly line of Automobile factory responsible for the manufacturing of several models including Roewe and MG. This assembly line holds the leading position worldwide, featuring automatic assembling of components inspection technology and automatic navigation vehicle Accompanied by the personnel of engine plant who gave a detailed account, they also appreciated all the technology of manufacturing, assembling and inspection developed by Technical Center of SAIC Passenger cars all by itself. Students felt quite satisfied with this visit, regarding it a great opportunity to broaden their horizon and acquire knowledge. They were convinced that this visit was beneficial and hoped there would be more such chances. The Dutch professors also heaped praise on this visit, saying they were confident of China’s own brand and innovation of automobile industry.
The Mechanical and Electronics Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Control are two undergraduate education programs that were co-founded by SMU and Hogeschool Zeeland University, with the approval of Ministry of Education in 2006. Then the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering affiliated to the Logistic Engineering College was founded to carry out these programs. The training model is jointly formulated by SMU and Hogeschool Zeeland University and professors from both universities give lectures. Students are allowed to study in Hogeschool Zeeland University in the last year of undergraduate period. This visit is the internship module of the “Orientation on Engineering”, one of the special courses offered by both universities, improving students’ understanding of the Product Design Methodology and Project Management.
The passenger cars engine factory of SAIC and Logistic Engineering College of SMU are cooperative units in promoting the building of Party organization featuring development. Therefore, it not only provides SMU with the platform for visit, internship, study and research, but also serves as the overall practice platform at present for Industrial engineering major, one of the pilot majors of “Education and Training Projects of Excellent Engineers”. Besides, it will sponsor the construction of an engine production streamline for SMU to promote further cooperation of both sides and reach the goal of “complementarity of advantages, resources sharing and mutual improvement”.
