The 3rd China & Singapore International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering is successfully held in SMU
On October 24-26, 2014, the 3rd China & Singapore International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering is successfully held in SMU. The theme of the conference is: the container port development in 4.0 industry ages. There are over 90 participants from Singapore, Japan, Mexico, Iran, Shanghai Maritime University, Dalian Maritime University, East China University of Science and Technology,Wuhan University of Technology,Hehai University, Southeast University,Harbin Engineering University,Tongji University,Science and technology Commission in Pudong New Area, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co.LTD(ZPMC), Tianjin Port Holdings Co, Ltd. , America Navis Group (China).
Professor Mi Weijian of SMU host this conference. Professor Mi Weijian introduced the background of this conference and hoped that the 3rd China & Singapore International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering can provide an effective platform for the communication and development of the port and engineering.
Professor Huang Youfang of SMU was invited to give the welcome speech. He expressed the gratitude for the support and trust of Science and technology Commission in Pudong New Area of Shanghai and all units and gave the warmest welcome to all the representatives participating in this conference.
This conference is a high-level academic conference about port and ocean engineering. Renowned experts and scholars at home and abroad had symposium and academic discussion about new concept, new technology and application research of this field. The conference report lasted two and a half days. Wong Edmund from American Navis Group, An Guoli from Tianjin Port Holdings Co, Ltd. , professor Mi Weijian from Shanghai Maritime University, He Gang from ZPMC, professor Song Hanwen from Tongji University made different special reports respectively.
In addition, professor YutakaWatanabe from Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, professor and researcher Vorobiev Pavel from Advanced Material Reasearch Center of Mexico, Susumu Kawashima from Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Baha Aime Franck,Pablo L. Clement, Amin DaneshmandMalayer from Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology also reported their research work.
On 26th, the conference organized the visit in ZPMC Changxing island manufacturing base and Automated Container Terminal Experimental Base. The visit provides participants at home and abroad with the opportunity to further understand the new achievements of the development of our country’s automated container terminal. Participants expressed their sincere thanks to ZPMC for organizing this activity and spoke highly of their technological achievements in port machinery and automated port.
The conference had strong academic atmosphere and participants were enthusiastic in communications. Representatives spontaneously thought the conference was a great success and promoted the communication and cooperation for experts, professors, scholars, engineering technology personage from all over the world.
