Logistics Engineering College Successfully Held Oral English Contest Preliminaries
On October 29, 2015, at six o’clock afternoon, Logistics Engineering College Oral English Contest Preliminaries was held in No.506 lecture hall in Logistics Engineering College building. Competition regulations were in line with the university oral English contest regulations. The competition had a judging panel, which is made up of six experts. The leader of the judging panel was Yang Demin, the director of University English Sector in Shanghai Ocean University. The judges included Mohamed Benbouzid, specially appointed professor of Thousand Plan and experts from Foreign Languages College and Logistics Engineering College. The contest had the secretary of the judging panel, scorer and time keeper.
This activity was the active preparation of Dean’s Office for the coming 2nd Oral English Contest of Shanghai Maritime University. The college attached great importance to it and the students showed great enthusiasm for the competition. Totally, there were 15 groups taking part in the competition, which was made up of 45 contestants. The preliminary contest was divided into two parts: the keynote speech “war of resistance against aggression in my heart” and the impromptu debate. Through fierce competition, the four groups were selected to participate in the university’s oral English contest. Through speech and debate, students’ ability of bilingual communication was greatly promoted and they gained a better understanding of the English language. In the evaluation and communication after the contest, experts spoke highly of the students’ wonderful performance.
